Howdy! I'm Chloe and I'm a freelance animator and motion graphics designer. I'm a recent graduate from the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism, where I studied motion graphics, coding, and data journalism. Check out some of my favorite creations.
This is my master's thesis: a portfolio of animated explainer videos I made for the popular short-form video platform, TikTok. In this process, I ideated how to incorporate news onto the platform to engage mobile-centric audiences, I then wrote the scripts, drew the assets, recorded the audio, and mixed everything together on Adobe AfterEffects. The project has been published under WIRED's TikTok account.
COVID-19 IN COLLEGES
As a New York Times News Assistant, I helped collect data used for this interactive which documents infections on college campuses across the United States. Work like this intervactive won my team the 2021 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service.
INCARCERATED AND INFECTED
Since January, I have worked as a data news assistant for The New York Times tracking COVID -19 infections in correctional facilities. I was responsible for contacting remote facilities, interviewing incarcerated people, and updating our national spreadsheet.

I wrote this viral editorial back in 2018, about how the music festival draws in liberal crowds but its profit goes to a conservative billionaire. I also ideated the accompanying illustration.
